Portugal: Regulator suspends review of fiber market

 |  February 23, 2015

Portugal’s National Communications Authority (Anacom) has decided to suspend again its review of the fiber-optic market that aims to determine whether Portugal Telecom should open its fiber network to competition, reports Diario Economico.

The daily cites as the reason for the suspension the proposed sale of PT Portugal to Altice. According to the report, Anacom plans to force the French company to sell its existing Portuguese operations Oni and Cabovisao in order to secure approval for the acquisition. At the same time, PT would be forced to open its fiber network to competition.
