While Portugal’s Competition Authority has yet to give its approval, Portugal Telecom’s buyout of Sport TV, a pay-TV operator, has been green-lit by the nation’s Regulatory Authority for the Media. Following the acquisition, Sport TV will have shareholders including Portugal Telecom, Olivedesportos and Zon Multimedia. While the Competition Authority continues to review the deal, it did consult the media watchdog, which did not give details on conditions it has reportedly imposed on Portugal Telecom to go through with the acquisition. Financial details of the deal were not immediately available.
