Proposed milk audit to curb Fonterra’s market power

Government proposals call for the Commerce Commission of New Zealand monitoring milk pricing every year. The results of the audit would be made public.

The measures are intended to check the market power of Fonterra, which controls 90 percent of the milk market in New Zealand) and to restore public confidence in the milk market.
