Romania’s competition authority announced its approval on Friday for the acquisition of three wind plants and four wind park projects in Vaslui County by Alive Wind Power One, a special-purpose vehicle established by local power distributor Premier Energy.
The Competition Council’s statement indicated that the transaction posed no significant concerns regarding competition within the Romanian market. This decision comes as Premier Energy continues to expand its renewable energy portfolio.
In April, local news outlet Profit.ro reported that Premier Energy had acquired the wind assets, boasting a cumulative installed capacity of 18 MW, from the local company Self Concept. This acquisition aligns with Premier Energy’s strategy to increase its renewable energy footprint and support Romania’s green energy goals.
Last month, Premier Energy made headlines by listing on the Bucharest Stock Exchange. The initial public offering (IPO) attracted significant interest, including from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), which acquired a 3.2% stake in the company.
