Russia: Antitrust authority predicts major fuel shortage by 2015

Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service has announced its prediction for a 7000 percent rise in motor fuel shortages by 2015 due to agreements made between the FAS and other government agencies. On January 1 of this year, the nation officially banned low-quality Euro-2 gasoline; more bans will take place in the subsequent years, according to reports. Major fuel companies declined to comment on the predictions, however, as they downgraded their production plans for the environmentally-friendly Euro-5 fuel for 2015.
