Russia: Competition regulator chooses winner of telco service gig

Russia’s competition authority, the Federal Antimonopoly Service, has reportedly chosen the winner of an electronic auction to choose which telco operator will provide services for the FAS, say reports.

    VimpelCom’s Beeline brand will service the FAS, an extension of the company’s current contract with the regulator. The gig includes servicing the authority’s IP VPN data network across 81 regional branches; the contract will last through 2016, say reports.
