Russia: Gazprom officially under watch, again

Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Services has announced an official investigation into Gazprom, Russia’s largest energy company and one of the largest companies on the planet. Reports say the probe will look into whether Gazprom’s pipe supply contracts abused the company’s dominant position in the market by signing contracts only with their own chosen contractors. A higher-up in FAS also told the media that Gazprom is alleged to have signed contracts with pipe trader North European Pipe Project in a deal that gave the trader exclusivity in the market, thereby restricting competition. A similar investigation was launched earlier this month.
