Russia: Oil giants face renewed antitrust crackdown

Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service has launched a new investigation into the business practices of major oil producers, including Rosneft and Bashneft.

    According to reports, Rosneft, Bashneft, Lukoil and a Lukoil subsidiary are under scrutiny following gasoline price hikes. The FAS launched an investigation into those hikes after analysis found that they occurred at a greater rate than inflation.

    The investigation compounds antitrust troubles for Bashneft, which came under fire following allegations of manipulation and fraud during its privatization process.
