“Significant market power” introduced in Competition Protection Act amendments

Amendments have been proposed to Bulgaria’s Competition Protection Act. Among the changes is the introduction of the idea of “significant market power” and its attendant offenses. The draft provides for monitoring Bulgarian companies that meet the threshhold, as well as fines for those companies that abuse their positions. Bulgaria’s competition watchdog, the KZK, will develop the methodology for determining significant market power in conjunction with the business sector. The methodology will be open for public comment prior to adoption.
