South Africa: Commission seeks heftier 54m USD telkom fine

Not only is Telkom, a major telecom company in South Africa, appealing against the Competition Tribunal’s ruling that found the fixed-line operator guilty of anticompetitive behavior, but the Competition Commission has also filed a “cross appeal” against sections of the tribunal’s findings, and wants Telkom to face a higher penalty than the 449m Rand (54m USD ) the tribunal imposed in August.
