Spain: Competition authority may fine Movistar, Vodafone and Orange

Spain’s National Competition Commission may impose an up to $129 million USD fine on mobile operators Movistar, which is owned by Telefonica SA, as well as Vodafone PLC and France Telecom’s Orange. The are alleged of abusing their dominant position in the text messaging wholesale market. A probe had been launched in early 2011 and its outcome is expected before the end of this year.
