    Elmore joined the firm as of counsel and will work from its Washington office, according to Bloomberg Law, which reported the move Aug. 24. Squire Patton Boggs said his practice will include advising clients on antitrust enforcement, reviews of proposed mergers and broader competition-policy issues.

    Before moving into private practice, Elmore served as senior antitrust counsel at the Federal Trade Commission, according to Bloomberg Law, citing an announcement from the firm.

    The hire gives Squire Patton Boggs another lawyer with direct experience inside the federal agency responsible for enforcing US competition and consumer-protection laws. Such government experience can be particularly relevant for companies navigating regulatory scrutiny of transactions and other conduct that may raise competition concerns.

    Elmore is joining the firm’s global antitrust and competition practice as regulatory enforcement and merger review remain important considerations for companies pursuing transactions or assessing competition risks.
