State aid “de minimis” regulation reviewed

The European Commission began a review of whether existing rules governing small amounts of state aid (“de minimis” Regulation) need to be changed in light of public authority and shareholder experience over the past five years. Presently, aid measures under €200,000 are considered too small to distort competition and fall outside EU state aid regulation and require no Commission approval.
