Swaziland: Competition watchdog resists political influence

The Swaziland Competition Commission is resisting outside political influence as it announced the importance of remaining independent to successfully ensure a competitive market. According to reports, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Commissioners of the Competition Commission stated that the avoidance of such political and outside influence, “whether from big conglomerates or from the political establishment,” is crucial for the SCC. The remarks were made by Mauritius Rajendra Servansigh, during which Prime Minister Sibusiso Dlamini was present.
