Sweden/US: Ericsson suing Apple for telecom patent infringement again

 |  March 1, 2015

Swedish mobile telecom gear maker Ericsson is suing Apple Inc for patent infringement after Apple refused Ericsson’s offer to have a court determine fair licensing terms, Ericsson said on Friday.

Ericsson said it filed a complaint with the US International Trade Commission (requesting an exclusion order against Apple’s products for infringing Ericsson patents that are essential to the 2G and 4G/LTE standards.

Until last month, Apple had a license for the patents at issue, but declined the new terms Ericsson offered when the existing agreement ran out.

Ericsson is seeking an injunction on iPhone and iPad sales, future royalties, and an unspecified amount of damages.
