Switzerland: Airbus Defense looks to M&A for portfolio revamp

Airbus Group’s defense operations is reportedly looking towards merger and acquisition deals to restructure its portfolio, the company said Monday.

    Airbus Defense chief executive Bernhard Gerwert spoke at a briefing in Berlin to discuss the company, noting goals of becoming number one or number two in the industry.

    ”If not, either we have to give up this business, or if we can manage it through consolidation, the new will acquire additional parts,” the executive said.

    He also noted that the company was currently reviewing its portfolio and structure and the results of the examination will be revealed this summer.
