Switzerland: Airlines to pay millions for freight rate fixing

Eleven airlines were fined about $12 million by Switzerland’s competition regulator WEKO, say reports, after the companies were found to have colluded to manipulate air freight service prices.

The accused, which include United Continental, American Airlines and British Airways, were sanctioned for alleged price manipulation of fuel surcharges, service rates and other fees; airline Lufthansa will reportedly not be fined as it first approached WEKO with news of the alleged cartel.
