Taiwan: Life insurance takeover deal saved from the brink of collapse

Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission has cleared the way for CTBC Financial Holding to acquire Taiwan Life Insurance, a merger that was threatened with collapse as authorities had previously imposed an investment ban on CTBC.

    Now, however, reports say the regulator has okayed the acquisition after both sides met concessions on the deal. Among the agreements reportedly includes CTBC’s offer to maintain compensation for all Taiwan Life employees for at least two years.
