Tanzania: Exclusive beer rights piques interest of authorities

 |  October 27, 2013

Tanzania’s Fair Competition Commission is currently investigating a beer conglomerate over its exclusive rights to import and distribute Windhoek beers, a case that took a new turn last week as the regulator ordered the company, Mabibo Beers, to stop issuing information about those rights.

Further, the FCC ordered Mabibo to stop requiring rival companies to seek Mabibo’s consent before they sell Windhoek products.

Mabibo openly admits to holding those exclusive rights since 2010.
