TeliaSonera and Telenor joint venture approved with conditions

 |  March 1, 2012

The Danish Consumer and Competition Authority has granted approval for a joint venture to be created by TeliaSonera and Telenor. The two telecom operators plan to merge their radio access networks for mobile traffic. The regulator placed conditions on the deal: TeliaSonera and Telenor can only bid on new spectrum licenses through a common infrastructure company, Newco; redundant antenna space is to be sold or rented to competitors, and; Newco employees and board members cannot exchange information that is sensitive to competition.
