The Turkish Competition Board has resolved its investigation into Sahibinden Bilgi Teknolojileri Pazarlama ve Ticaret regarding allegations of abuse of dominance in online platform services for real estate and for vehicle sales and rentals.
The Board opened its initial investigation in May 2017 to probe the allegations of excessive pricing in Sahibinden’s online real estate advertising and in September 2017 it opened a second investigation into the company’s online vehicle sales and rentals advertising.
On October 1, 2018, the Board decided that:
-
Sahibinden holds a dominant position in the market for online platform services for renting/selling vehicles and in the market for online platform services for renting/selling real estate.
-
That the company abused its dominant position in those markets by excessive pricing.
-
That Sahibinden will be fined based off of its gross income for the 2017 fiscal year.
