In its official statement, the board outlined suspicions that Coca-Cola’s business practices may have unfairly hindered competitors’ access to points of sale across Turkey. Per Reuters, this investigation stems from evidence suggesting Coca-Cola might have employed tactics to block or restrict competitor visibility and availability in stores.

The probe will also revisit a prior agreement made between Coca-Cola and Turkish regulators. Specifically, authorities will assess whether the company has honored commitments it made in 2021 to address earlier antitrust concerns. According to Reuters, the board noted that this aspect of the inquiry would focus on compliance with previously agreed-upon conditions designed to ensure a fair competitive environment.

The investigation represents the latest scrutiny faced by a multinational corporation operating in Turkey, as regulators continue to closely monitor compliance with the country’s antitrust regulations.
