U.K.: AkzoNobel displeased after Competition Commission verdict

AkzoNobel has said it is ‘disappointed’ after the UK Competition Commission (CC) preliminarily ruled against a merger deal over fears it could damage competition in the sector and see prices rise. The AkzoNobel planned takeover has been referred to the CC by the OFT, and found that it is substantially lessening competition. The acquisition has already been approved by Germany, Austria, Cyprus, Russia, Brazil and Pakistan.
