The Office of Fair Trading on Friday referred the industry to the Competition Commission five months after it first looked at the sector. The motor insurance industry faces an investigation by the Competition Commission just as Royal Bank of Scotland readies a multi-billion flotation of its insurance arm. The move comes as RBS gears up for a £2.6bn initial public offering of Direct Line, which is expected to price either Friday or Monday.
