U.S.: CA Public Utilities Commission dismisses NRG electric monopoly allegations, settles

Despite arguments that a deal between the California Public Utilities Commission and NRG Energy Inc. would give NRG a monopoly over the state’s electric vehicle charging stations, the state and NRG have settled for $120 million to end a dispute stemming from California’s 2000-2001 energy crisis. The California Public Utilities Commission approved of the settlement after dismissing allegations from NRG’s main competitor ECOtality that the deal would give NRG a monopoly.
