U.S.: DOJ blocks aviation parts merger

According to reports, the Department of Justice has terminated TransDigm’s plans to buy Goodrich from United Technologies. The deal was proposed for $236 million. TransDigm supplies aviation parts; Goodrich supplies pump and engine control systems. If the DOJ hadn’t disapproved of the plan, the parties expected it to have been finalized by either late 2012 or early 2013.
