U.S.: DOJ extends review of chemical merger

The Department of Justice has submitted a “second request” to take a closer look at Ecolab’s proposal to acquire Champion Technologies for $2.2 billion. Despite the extended review, Ecolab continues to expect the deal to close by the end of this year. Both companies produce chemicals; Ecolab makes them for sanitation, and Champion makes them for oilfield production.
