U.S.: FTC conditions Corning merger

In a move to resolve issues over Corning Inc.’s proposed acquisition of Becton, Dickinson and Company’s Discovery Labware, Inc., the FTC has asked Corning to compromise. Corning has agreed to sell its Supply Cell Culture Labware Assets and Technology. For the deal to be approved, the FTC will require Corning to supply some laboratory products and provide assets to Sigma-Aldrich Co., LLC., automatically replacing some competition lost through the deal.
