U.S.: FTC grants early termination of Dole/Itochu deal review

The Federal Trade Commission has stated it will not contest Dole Food Co. Inc.’s plans to sell two of its businesses to Itochu Corp. for $1.7 billion. The FTC had granted Dole and Itochu’s application for “early termination” of the deal’s review on Monday. Dole will sell its Dole Packaged Foods LLC and Dole Asia holding Pte Lit. to the Tokyo trading company in an effort on Dole’s part to restructure its business model as well as pay off some of its debts.
