U.S.: Rep. threatens antitrust suit against Delta for ‘broken promises’

After Delta Airlines canceled its summer route between Memphis and Amsterdam, Representative Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.) has threatened the airline with an antitrust suit for Delta’s “broken promises.” Cohen has reached out to Attorney General Eric Holder to discuss the issue, arguing that promises made in a deal to merge Delta and Northwest Airlines in 2008 have been continuously broken, most recently with Delta neglecting to re-open its Memphis-Amsterdam route. Cohen is a member of the Antitrust Task Force of the House Judiciary Committee and the Subcommittee on Aviation of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
