U.S.: Tokai Rika is latest to plead guilty in auto bid-rigging, price-fixing charges

The Justice Department has achieved a new victory in its longstanding investigation into price-fixing and bid-ridding among auto suppliers in Tokai Rika Co. Ltd’s guilty plea. The Japan-based supplier, has agreed to pay $17.7 million in criminal fines along with the guilty plea. They are the ninth auto supplier to plead guilty under the investigation. According to the plea, the company had committed antitrust violations between September 2003 and February 2010 of rigging bids and fixing prices of HCPs sold to Toyota in the U.S. and other locations.
