UK: CMA announces four new merger chairmen

The UK’s Competition and Markets Authority, which will commence operations as the new competition regulator next month, announced Wednesday that four have been appointed as Panel Deputy Chairs to rule on certain merger inquiries, among other matters.

    A press release offered by the CMA announced John Wotton and Philip Marsden have been appointed and will begin at the regulator in April; Phil Evans and Anne Lambert were also appointed, but will not begin the position until September. According to the CMA, the new employees will make decisions on Phase 2 merger cases, market investigations and regulatory appeals.

    CMA Chairman David Currie said he is “delighted” with the new appointments.
