UK: CMA head gears up for action in latest speech

The head of the new Competition and Markets Authority Alex Chisholm offered a speech last Friday to discuss the authority’s aspirations and expectations as it gears up to launch operations next April.

    CMA Chief Executive Alex Chisholm spoke to the Anhurst General Counsel to promote the regulator’s goals of becoming a “world class competition authority that delivers excellent and timely results.”

    Among the CMA’s aspirations include transparency, the acceptance of stakeholder views, and predictability in CMA’s expectations and guidelines.

    The CMA will combine the current Office of Fair Trading and Competition Commission when its comes into powers on the first of April, 2014.
