UK: CMA invites consultations on “no deal” EU Exit

 |  January 28, 2019

According to the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), leaving the EU with a deal remains the Government’s top priority, however, the CMA must plan for every eventuality, including a “no deal” scenario. They are intensifying and accelerating “no deal” planning to ensure we are fully prepared.

The CMA is at this time inviting views on the effects of a “no deal” EU Exit on the functions of the CMA.

The draft guidance covers:

  • the legal framework
  • merger control
  • enforcement of competition law prohibitions (antitrust, including cartels)
  • consumer protection law enforcement
The CMA is welcoming emailed consultations to the following email: EUExitGuidanceNoDeal@cma.gov.uk.
