A final ruling has settled a longstanding dispute between UK authorities and ferry operator Eurotunnel regarding its acquisition of assets from a defunct rival.
Reports say the Competition Appeal Tribunal has ruled in favor of the competition regulator that found Eurotunnel’s acquisition of ferries from the former SeaFrance gave Eurotunnel an unfair advantage. A dispute soon erupted into whether the ferries constituted the acquisition of property of an entire business.
But the CAT’s Friday ruling now means Eurotunnel has six months to end its MyFerryLink operations, which launched with the assets acquired from SeaFrance, on the route between France and Britain.
France-based Eurotunnel is now reportedly seeking a buyer for the MyFerryLink assets.
