UK: Global Radio surrenders to Competition Commission

Communications firm Global Radio has reportedly abandoned its fight against the Competition Commission’s ruling ordering the company to divest radio stations next year following its buyout GMG Radio.

    Reports say Global Radio, which is the UK’s largest radio company, appealed the Commission’s decision to the Competition Appeal Tribunal following its $114 million buyout of the rival; the Commission found that competition was threatened in seven geographical regions.

    Despite its appeal, reports say Global Radio will now accept the Commission’s demands.
