UK: Historic Nottingham law firms to merge

Their origins can both be traced back to the 19th century – now two Nottingham law firms have announced they will merge and create a county-wide practice.

    Rothera Dowson and Sharp Young & Pearce will join forces from June 1 to create Rothera Sharp, a 20-partner firm with more than 100 legal professionals.

    Ann-Marie Bowman and Joanne Millward, currently managing partners at Rothera Dowson and Sharp Young & Pearce respectively, will become joint managing partners at Rothera Sharp.

    They will be supported by a management committee of two partners from each firm.

    Ms Bowman said: “Both firms have been in discussions for a number of months so we’re delighted to be able to finally unveil our plans.

    “The legal landscape is changing and, as such, firms like ourselves and Sharp Young & Pearce understand the importance of being able to evolve, explore new business opportunities and welcome change.

    “The merger ensures we continue as a main player in the market.
