UK: Isle of Wight Festival takeover cleared by CMA

 |  September 17, 2017

Live Nation’s acquisition of the Isle of Wight Festival has taken a step forward after the competition regulator concluded that the transaction will not be the subject of an in-depth probe.

The decision by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) follows a phase one investigation into the deal.

As part of the investigation, the CMA sought views from experts in the sector, as well as festival goers.

The evidence collected indicated that the Isle of Wight and other festivals owned by Live are not competing closely for customers.

The deal will not be put forward for a phase two investigation as a result.
