UK: Lawyer watchdog zeros-in on competition with former CC hire

 |  February 17, 2014

The UK’s Legal Services Board announced the appointment of Competition Commission inquiry director to serve as the Board’s new strategy chief, a hire reports say suggests a new focus on competition enforcement.

The LSB has hired Caroline Wallace, who will join the team in May. Reports say Wallace has spent nine years at the Competition Commission where she spearheaded investigations into various industries including financial services and food.

Wallace has also served at communications regulator Ofcom, where she served as the director of competition policy.

The Competition Commission is set to be merged with the Office of Fair Trading later this year to become the Competition and Markets Authority.
