Two major mergers will reportedly shake up the law and accounting industries as firms strategize to fight against the sectors’ dominators and the execs who control them. Accountant BDO has reportedly informed its staff of its merger with smaller rival PFK, a deal that aims to gain higher status in the accounting world as the Competition Commission looks to break up the Big Four accountants that currently control the majority of the sector. Additionally, US law firm SNR Denton has set to merger with Canadian-based Fraser Milner Casgrain and France-based Salans; the deal will result in a top-10 law firm and reports say the deal will put the new firm against giants like Linklaters and Slaughter & May.
