UK: No merit in lamp makers’ cartel claims, says OFT

The UK’s Office of Fair Trading announced the dismissal of a complaint lodged with the watchdog accusing various manufacturers of lamps of forming a cartel under the Recolight name, say reports. The complaint, filed by lamp recycling company Mercury Recycling, accused Recolight founders Sylvania, GE, Osman and Philips of colluding against recycling companies. An OFT spokesperson said an inquiry into the matter was never officially opened; further, the matter was considered dropped last June. In a statement, the spokesperson said the complaint was not a priority of the watchdog.
