UK: Nutritional food buyout attracts two market bidders

 |  April 6, 2014

The bidders vying to acquire nutritional yogurt firm Danone’s medical nutrition operations are down to just two companies, say reports, a healthcare company and a food company.

Switzerland-based Nestle and Germany-based healthcare group Fresenius are competing to win the bid for the assets, valued at $5.5 billion, according to a source.

Danone had first signaled it was looking to offload the company earlier this year as the firm refocuses its operations on baby foods and dairy products. The company has been said to target buyouts in Asia and Africa.

The companies involved declined to comment on the matter.
