UK: OFT announces mobile scooter co violated competition law

 |  August 5, 2013

The Office of Fair Trading announced Monday it reached a decision regarding allegations of anticompetitive behavior by Roma Medical Aids Limited, a manufacturer of mobility scooters. The OFT ruled the company breached competition law when making arrangements with seven online scooter retailers throughout the UK that restricted the sites from selling Roma scooters; the agreements restricted consumer choice and customers’’ ability to compare prices, said the OFT in a press release. The regulator did not issue a fine but has ruled the company must end any withstanding arrangements of this kind. The company is also barred from making similar agreements in the future.
