As the UK’s new competition regulation the Competition and Markets Authority is set to begin operations this April, the Office of Fair Trading shows no signs of slowing in its operations until it is rolled into the new CMA.
The OFT recently announced new regulation over the mobile gaming industry that gives companies until April 1 to comply with new consumer protection guidelines.
The principles follow a probe into the industry conducted last year that found some practices to have violated consumer protection law. The regulations cover use of personal data, misleading pricing statements and other practices.
The regulations show the OFT will be working full-speed right up until it is combined with the Competition Commission into the CMA in April; come April, reports say the CMA will be responsible for the gaming principles.
