Pork Farms Caspian Limited (Pork Farms) proposed to acquire Kerry Foods’ chilled savory pastry business, but is now facing a full investigation from the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).
The CMA was concerned that the acquisition would result in unfair prices and a reduction in choice and quality and required Pork Farms to offer suitable undertakings. Pork Farms offered no undertakings, let alone acceptable ones, and the CMA responded by referring the acquisition for a full investigation.
The investigation must be published by June 21, 2015 followed by a decision by an independent panel.
