The UK’s Competition and Markets Authority has reportedly ordered divestitures on construction group Breedon Aggregates following a major acquisition inked last year.
The CMA ruled that Breedon must sell two concrete and asphalt plants in Scotland after it acquired plants from Aggregate last April in a merger worth about $57 million. At the time of the transaction, say reports, Breedon already held the top spot in the ready-mix concrete and asphalt industry.
Now, the CMA will also implement price controls on some assets of Breedon Aggregate.
The CMA issued its decision after taking over the merger review by the Competition Commission, which merged with the Office of Fair Trading to create the CMA earlier this month.
