As the new Competition and Markets Authority has taken up its duties since last April without delay, competition policy experts warn the regulator is upping its watch over universities and their compliance with competition law.
According to reports, universities must be aware of such compliance in situation that include merging with another college, collusion on university fees, the sharing of information – especially regarding fees – with competing universities and other behaviors that may be considered a breach of competition law.
Reports cite Walker Morris LLP partner Barrister Trudy Feaster-Gee, who discussed the threats universities face as the CMA increases its competition enforcement.
