 |  July 30, 2013

A potato farmer based in North Dakota requested an antitrust lawsuit initiated b a group of grocers be dismissed or go to jury trial, say reports. Associated Wholesale Grocers Inc. filed the lawsuit in Idaho against United Potato Growers of America, its affiliate in Idaho, and others accusing the defendants of price-fixing in the fresh potato sector. One of the defendants, Ronald D. Offutt Jr., has formally denied the accusations and now wants the case to be dismissed or go to a jury, filing a response claiming he does not have “sufficient information or knowledge to adequately respond regarding to truth” to the allegations. Reports say similar responses have been filed by additional defendants.
