In a federal California court three airlines accused of fixing the price of long-haul flights to Pacific destinations have agreed to pay a total of US$29.4 million to settle a proposed class action according to Law360.
China Airlines agreed to the largest settlement: US$19.5 million in cash plus US$250,000 for notice costs. Philippine Airlines would pay US$9 million, and Air New Zealand would pay US$400,000 plus US$250,000 toward notice costs, according to the motion.
“We are pleased to present the court with three additional settlements totaling nearly US$30 million in additional recovery for the class, and we look forward to presenting the claims against the remaining two defendants to a jury in the near future,” plaintiffs’ attorney Christopher Lebsock of Hausfeld LLP said in an email Wednesday, January 10.
