US: Alleged potato price-fixers sue to get insurer’s help with legal fees

As United Potato Growers of Idaho and four of its largest potato growers are caught in a legal battle to fight accusations of price-fixing, the entities have now filed their own lawsuit against their insurance providers to have their legal fees covered. While the plaintiffs have reportedly demanded a jury trial, a trial date has not yet been set. The growers reportedly received a letter in August 2010 from their insurance company, UPGI, notifying that claims filed for the directors and officers would not be covered due to the “price-fixing, monopolization and unfair trade practices” involved in the case.
